Smooth Flight, Smooth Landing---Then It Gets Bumpy!!!

Well, we made it to Orlando safe and sound.  The flight actually was amazing....so smooth and uneventful...and amazing weather.  (Just look at the awesome picture we took out the cabin window!)  Business class flying is awfully nice...so much room and so close to the front of the plane---a girl (or gay man LOL) could sure get used to that!!

We watched the movie "Where The Wild Things Are" on the flight (we had downloaded and saved several movies we wanted to see to help us kill time on planes and in airports, etc.).  Boy....if ever there was a film to make the case for why you should NOT take a 48 page illustrated children's book and turn it into a 2 hour movie...that movie is it.  We just thought it was rotten...but, this isn't a film critic blog....so I digress....

...anyhow, once we landed, the smooth sailing kind of ended.  We got our rental car OK and loaded all our stuff into it and then we turned on the GPS in my phone to help us get from the airport to DisneyWorld.  I know, I know!  There are signs everywhere, and we've been here a million times...so you'd think we wouldn't need a GPS...but we used it anyway...and boy was that a mistake.  It took us out quite literally into the middle of a big dark field behind the airport and the stupid GPS voice said, "You have reached your destination."  We looked around and said...um, not unless they've made some MAJOR changes to Disney since were last here in May!  So at the end of all that drama, what should have been a 20 or 30 minute drive from airport to WDW became an hour long adventure (and the theme-song from "Deliverance" was playing in my head as we drove around these unlit back roads with no buildings or traffic to be seen!

Finally, however, we did arrive at our resort.  We're staying at the Beach Club Villas at Disney.  I've stayed here before but Jason never has...and this resort has arguably the nicest pool on Disney property....plus one of our favorite little soda shop restaurants, "Beaches & Cream" (and we headed right down there to get a chili dog as a late dinner, too....chili dogs at Disney are one of my MANY guilty pleasures when I'm here!!).  Here are some pics of our villa...it's very nice and spacious....

The final glitch in our evening, however, is that the internet in our room does not work (BOOOOO!!).  We called down about it but they can't even come look at it til tmw....so I'm posting tonight using the wireless in the lobby....and if they can't fix it, then I'll have to continue to use lobby internet the rest of my stay----which isn't nearly as easy or comfortable as in my PJs in the bed!! LOL

Anyhow....time to get back to the room, brush my teeth and turn in for the night.  We want to be up early tomorrow to go to Islands of Adventure and Universal and experience the new Harry Potter theme park there!

  4. Erik--thanks for staying dressed long enough to update us all. Sorry about the GPS muddle--hopefully it worked better to get you where you are going today (I figure you are there now as I type). Funny you are seeing Harry Potter things (and we canNOT wait to hear all about it) and we are seeing the "real" ones here in London (couple of good shots if that internet gets working and Jason logs into facebook to see them).
